Hurstville

Busy commercial centre and suburb in Sydney's south, built on the land of the Gweagal people. The railway line, opened in 1884, allowed residential development and subdivision. Postwar immigration made Hurstville a multicultural centre, and immigration from Hong Kong in the 1990s has created a vibrant Chinese community.
